BACKGROUND
The McDonald's Manawatu Jets are an NBL basketball franchise who compete in New Zealand Basketballs Premier domestic competition, the Dominion Finance National Basketball League (NBL).
The NBL comprises of 11 franchises throughout New Zealand including Auckland, North Harbour, Waikato, Taranaki, Hawkes Bay, Manawatu, Wellington, Nelson, Canterbury, Otago and Southland.
The McDonalds Manawatu Jets main purpose is to field a competitive team in the national competition and to deliver an integrated development programme with the Palmerston North Basketball Association to provide a pathway for junior and development players .
The McDonald's Manawatu Jets are an incorporated society that has been operating since 2001 (but have competed in the NBL for over 20 years).
